What is the technical difference between DT 880/990 edition and DT 880/990 Pro?
The Pro series is designed for professional users and the Edition series are designed for end users. Also, the Pro and Edition series do not differ noticeably in terms of sound provided that they have the same impedance (e.g. the 250 ohms DT 880 Edition and the 250 ohms DT 880 Pro sound the same).
How does the Tygr 300 R differ from the DT 880 Pro and the DT 990 Pro?
The DT 880 PRO has a very linear frequency response, while the DT 990 PRO has a slightly more accentuated bass and accordingly more present trebles for a pleasant balance. Both are primarily designed for studio applications. The TYGR 300 R focuses on gaming. Powerful bass and detailed accentuated treble go very well with gaming. However, the sound design of the DT 990 PRO has been further optimized for gaming, sometimes through the use of a special acoustic fleece.
How can I tell what the impedance of my DT 770/880/990 Edition is?
You check the impedance of the integrated sound transducers from the connection plug. The impedance is sometimes hot-embossed onto the plastic shaft of the plug: If there is nothing there, the model has an impedance of 250 ohms. If it reads 32 Ω, the model has an impedance of 32 ohms. If it reads 600 Ω, the model has an impedance of 600 ohms.
What do impedance and ohms mean?
Impedance is the so-called alternating-current resistance that headphones have under specific standard conditions. On devices with low output impedance, headphones are the louder, the lower their impedance is. In principle, we recommend that you choose headphones with low impedance for use on devices that are operated by battery/rechargeable battery (i.e. most portable devices such as smartphones, tablet computers but also notebooks). You can distinguish between high and low impedance. Usually, the gradations 18 Ω, 32 Ω, and 80 Ω are used in the low range. In the high range, 250 Ω are common. If you want to get the most out of your system (and it has the power to do so), choose a model with 600 Ω like the T 1.
Are the DT 990 Pro Available with less headband pressure?
No, the professional headphones are only available with the defined headband pressure. If the headband pressure is too strong for you, you can slightly try to expand the installed spring steel in the headband. For this purpose, we recommend stretching the headphones gradually for a few hours over books or similar. You should choose the width a little bit wider than the width of your head.
